The discussion was organized by the Parliamentary Committee on Legislative Support of Law Enforcement. The People´s Deputies of Ukraine, representatives of central and regional internal affairs bodies, the Secretariat of the President of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers, public associations; and leading scholars attended the meeting.
Viktor Shvets, Committee Chairman stated that the Committee scrutinized the Bills on prosecution and investigation and search operations. More than 20 Bills aimed at substantial reorganization of internal affairs bodies were registered at the Parliament. The said Bills envisage creation of the financial, border and national police, the National Guard, the National Investigation Bureau, etc.
The Draft Version of a new Law "On Service in the Internal Affairs Bodies", elaborated by the Committee´s working group, was presented at the round-table discussion.
Majority of reporters called for urgent adoption of the Laws that would secure effective reforming of the system of law-enforcement bodies.
